Mirrored Dresser

I Looove mirrors. I'm always looking for them when I'm out an about bargain shopping. They're so easy to dress up and refinish and they ALWAYS make a room look great. Check out this tutorial I found over at remodelaholic.com She took an ordinary (and old!) bathroom mirror that was headed for the dump and used it on a dresser that she had sitting in her garage. I think it's ADORABLE! What do you think??

An OLD bathroom mirror

+ an old yucky dresser from the garage

add a little paint

and some glue

And.... Wala!! Aint she a beauty!!
So CHIC! I LOVE it!!!

Homemade Hurricane Jars

I'm a sucker for glass jars, vases, apothecary's.... I have about 2 dozen of them. (Well make that 26) I picked up some really cute one's at the D.I. on Sat and have a plan for them {post coming soon} until then, enjoy these beauties. Can you believe they are from the $ store? That's right, all things GREAT come from the dollar store! I found them over at www.decorchick.com (this chick's got skillzzz...!)

Have you seen these candle holders from Williams Sonoma before? Aren’t they pretty? Way too pricey though. Here is a knock off version that will cost you only $2 to make!

I first saw this idea from Get Your Martha On when she made her version here. They looked so beautiful so I just had to try it.

The only thing I did differently was get the hurricanes at the dollar store instead of Walmart. The ones at Walmart are bigger and look great, but I just wasn’t up for waiting in line for 30 minutes fighting the crowd, so the Dollar Store it was!

First get your hurricanes and glass candlesticks. Remember, get all of this from the dollar store. Never underestimate the power of a dollar. :)

Then put some gorilla glue on the candlestick and stick to the bottom of hurricane. You could use hot glue too, but it will eventually come off. I’ve tried it before.
Then try and be patient and let the glue sit for a while. It’s heavy duty stuff.
While you are waiting, maybe you could catch up on reading a few good books.

Then you have this when it’s all dry
You like?

Then just fill them with whatever you want to use. You can use any vase filler, rocks, candy, candles, anything. If you use candles, I would suggest putting some sand or rocks on the bottom before you drop in the candle. Trust me.

I decorated mine with dollar store rocks, sand, and jute. I had the seashell and vase filler stuff already.

Here they are with some of my other glass things on my entry table.

You can’t beat the price of this project being $2. I’ll take that any day!

Genius! These are about $15-20 even at Tai Pan!!

Craigslist Armoire

Man do I LOVE me a good Craigslist find!! I bet I get on there about 10 times a day looking for things that I can turn into a treasure. I must say this is one of those. A true TREASURE! I love how it turned out! I found this over at www.domestically-speaking.com Oh, I'm jealous I want one!

Craigslist was good to me last week. Look what I scored for only $25!
I’ve been watching Craig for the last month hoping to score one. I wanted an armoire to put in our master bedroom to hide the flat screen hanging on the wall.
Here’s the steps I took:

1st - take off doors, remove drawers and hardware

2nd - sand lightly
3rd - cut the back out of the top section (so our wall mounted TV could slide on in)

4th - prime with Kiltz (what I had in the garage)

5th - give it 2 coats of white paint. My 1st coat I used up my White on White Glidden paint that I received FREE from one of their giveaways. The 2nd coat I went and bought Valspar’s White in Satin (their pre-mixed from Lowes)

6th - spray painted all the hardware with my love, Oil Rubbed Bronze (ORB)

7th - Wait impatiently till it’s all dry to reassemble

And here she is….
Look at her! All creamy and white, and shabby, and wonderful, and PERFECT...

Sigh.. Craigslist be kind to me so I may find one too...

Bathroom Towel Holder

This is such a great idea! I've driven past so many local construction sights and have seen old cabinets or pieces of "scrap cabinets" in big dumpsters. I've always thought to myself.. "hmmm I could do something with those" Now I know! I think I will be dumpster diving finding me some cabinets soon! Check out tatteredblissfun.blogspot.com

What do you get when you take a cabinet door, some hooks from Hobby Lobby, paint and scrapbook paper? Here is pic of the cabinet door before...

A Towel Holder! Here is what it looked like when it was finished! It is now ready to hang up in my bathroom! I can't wait to try it out!

Refurbished Hutch

I found this over at frostedgardner.blogspot.com. Melanie and her husband are AMAZING at painting and restoring old furniture. She has some really inspiring work on her blog. Go check her out!

This beautiful black hutch is unique in its shape and wood detailing. The top piece is angled which gives it alot of depth

I love the chunky base on this hutch. It has four drawers with the top being different than the other three. The doors have tons of detailing as well. We have added new hardware to compliment the different design.

I LLLOVE this!!!
Don't you?
